Wow. We had the best day. We drove from Lake Taupo (stunning) to Waitomo where we went 65 meters underground in a cave to walk down underground rivers and float down them when they were too deep to walk. With our helmet lights off, it was total darkness except for the glow worms. Amazing. We had to jump backwards off the top of 2 waterfalls to land in the river below on our rubber tubes. It was fantastic. The most incredible part was when we were all (9 of us) floating down the river in darkness, glow worms above us, and one of the Maouri guides quietly sang a traditional song. It was beautiful.
